BORN TO BE KINGS
(From Chapter 1)

Note from Doug Fortune:
Matthew Hester is destined to become a true leader
of a new generation, a new breed. Having rejected the
voice of man’s religion, he is pressing into the “real
thing.” I sincerely believe he is in the Kingdom for “such
a time as this!”
I have known Matthew for several years and have
witnessed his integrity, his character and his depth of
revelation and understanding. In the following pages from his new book, I
believe you will discover wisdom that goes beyond Matthew’s
natural years. Truly we are born to be Kings, and
Matthew conveys the message so well.
Within the pages of his book is a clarion cry to
wake up from the slumber and dream world of the carnal
Adamic man and pursue the journey to become all we
were created to be. It is time to shine forth as Light, to
fulfill the Word that Father spoke into us from the foundation
of the world, to possess the inheritance granted us.
We must come up to a higher understanding, and as the
people of Zion, be willing to change our mindsets, to have
our minds renewed to the Mind of Christ. As we do this,
we become the fragrant aroma that releases the very Presence
of God in the earth.
As you encounter the following writing, I pray that
you too will be as edified and encouraged as I am in this
“rare jewel” of a book.

Chapter One - In The Beginning…
Genesis 1:1
In the beginning God created the Heavens and the Earth
(KJV)
Genesis 1:3-5
And God said, "let there be light", and there was light.
And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided
the light from the darkness And God called the light Day,
and the darkness He called Night. And the evening and
the morning were the first day. (KJV)
Night Lights
Light. What a fantastic word! It rolls so easily off
the tongue. Just saying the word gives you an automatic
recognition of its presence. Since you are reading this
it is only possible that a source of light is giving you the
ability! When it comes down to it, light is one of the more
important things in creation.
As a child I remember just how important light
was to me. I guess most children are afraid of the darkness
to some extent and I was no exception. Light in the
middle of the night gave me a confidence to go to sleep.
Light in and of itself could not protect me, but I responded
to it as if it could. Yes, there is something attractive about
illumination--it could be for more reasons than we think.
Keep the lights burning.
God spoke light into existence at the very beginning
of creation. This also shows its importance to Him.
As a matter of fact, the "Father of lights" has been in the
business for some time.
James 1:17
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and
comes down from the Father of lights… (KJV)
The Father has always gotten what He has asked
for, and the opening verses of His Word are no different!
God demanded light to exist, and without struggle, delay
or argument it came into being. I imagine it must have
been a beautiful light, the first creation had seen--the moment
it was born it was separated apart from darkness. It
is amazing that God calls this light to exist long before the
sun is formed--a few days later actually (Gen 1:16). It’s
almost as if it is being described as a living thing instead
of the residue of a light creating source. That's the point!
God did not create the same light in two different places
but rather two very different kinds of light at two very different
points in time.
Matthew 5:14
Ye are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be
hidden. (KJV)
Matthew 5:16
Let your light shine before men, that they may see your
good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
(KJV)
You Are The Light Of The World
In the previous verses there is something that is
described for us plainly. We see that we (the children of
the King) are the light of the world. We also see that we
are to let our light shine before men. It is only when we
understand the fullness of why the Father created us as
well as the value that is held within each one of us does a
beautiful picture begin to unfold. The light that God
spoke into existence is very much alive and well--it is being
groaned for at this very moment to be manifest.
There is something in each one of us that is excited
to hear these things. It is much more than just a temporary
satisfaction--it is an awareness that eternal things are
being stirred within us. Have you started hearing the
verses in your head that you have heard so many times
before? Do they sound a little different now? What fellowship
does light have with darkness? (II Cor 6:14 )
Would you choose to return to the darkness from which
you were separated? Yes, there is something that is beginning
to grow!
I Peter 2:9b
that you may declare the praises of Him who called you
out of darkness into his wonderful light. (NIV)
into; to the form, substance, or condition of (Webster's
new world dictionary)
God has called us out of darkness into His marvelous
light! Into may seem like such a small word, but it is
extremely vital when we speak this phrase into the open.
It reveals to us a sense of transformation; it speaks to us of
a sense of coming forth. Think of the canvas in which
God first had to paint (Gen 1:2). God spoke from the
darkness and made the proclamation for light to exist! My
friends from the beginning of time we have been called
out of darkness into His marvelous light!
This is no small calling! God has created His people
with a purpose only they can fulfill. The answer to all
of the darkness that we see is not that Christ would split
the eastern sky and smite His enemies in a holy war, but
that He would have us show forth His light, His nature,
His character! This is how a footstool is built (Psa 110:1,
Matt 22:44). This is why the earth is waiting for us to be
revealed in the fullness of stature!
Our pattern must always be Christ (Rom 8:29).
Don't think for a minute that of your own strength you can
make these things come about. The Father is still in control
and what He demands from us is total submission to
the desires of His heart. There will come a new level of
accountability as this revelation grows in the hearts of the
Saints. All of creation is hoping, wanting the lights to be
manifest.
Romans 8:19
For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits
for the revealing of the sons of God. (NKJV)
We now see that there is a certain foundation upon
which we must build. We were never a second thought in
the mind of the Father, but have always been the first. We
were spoken into being before we were fashioned out of
clay! We witnessed creation in all of its splendor! This is
only the first brush stroke of a beautiful work of art. In a
time when the value of mankind is so desperately under
attack the Father is revealing yet another part of His grand
affection for us. Saints...the Day is come! The Father is
once again sending out the call for those spoken at the
dawn of time to come into their rightful place!
Being The Light Of Christ Effectively
We have this powerful revelation of who we are as
the light of the world in Christ Jesus. We must now understand how to be that light in our daily lives to all that
we encounter. We must demonstrate the light everywhere
that we live our lives.
To be the light of Christ is only possible coupled
with true intimacy with Him. We can only represent our
Lord to others by accepting His full presentation within
us. It would make little sense to try to show others who
Christ is when we do not know ourselves. Intimacy with
the Lord cannot be taught, it can only be experienced and
cultivated through relationship with Him. The birthplace
of demonstration is found in the wedding chamber of true
passion for our first love.
It is time for the Saints of God to take the mystery
out of their approach to who God is and show it for its
true simplicity to the world. How simple is the relationship
we have with our Father? He wants to live His life
through us and desires for us to get out of the way so that
He may do so. Ultimately, God is wanting to replace each
one of us with something else. He is wanting to replace
us with Himself. There should be so much of Jesus emanating
from within us that we are no longer recognized
except as Christ to the peoples of the earth.
When I first met my wife I was not content just in
meeting her. I wanted to know her likes and dislikes. I
wanted to know what she held as important. I wanted to
know here favorite colors, foods, hobbies and habits. I
compiled an abundance of information through hours of
phone calls and countless e-mails. All of these occurred
before the marriage--before things got really serious. If I
used this method concerning my wife, why would I use a
different method concerning my relationship with the
heavenly Father?
What pleases the heart of God is to find a people
that search Him out the same way as we would anyone
else. He wants us to be interested in knowing His likes
and dislikes. We should know what He desires and wants
for Himself. It should be our good pleasure to find out all
that we can about the one we love through countless hours
of intimacy, study and passion for His presence. When
our spirit begins to line up with a true desire for who God
is, then it will be time to get serious about what He wants
us to do.
To really be the light of Christ to the world we
must move from knowing about God into intimately
knowing Him experientially. The world is not interested
in half truths. The people want all or nothing. Be who
God has called you to be where He has called you to be.
Let the love relationship with the Father take over at His
discretion. Do not be intimidated. Do not hold anything
back. Your light is beginning to burn brighter.
